Designed for helicopter and Chod rigs directly on the mainline, this kit combines an adjustable bead-release system with a compact protective buffer sleeve, eliminating the need for a separate leader.
The system allows bead retention to be adjusted according to the weight being used and the fishing situation. Interlocking ring features on the bead and sleeve provide three release positions, with the release force determined by how far the bead is pushed onto the sleeve.
Key Features
- Three adjustable bead-release positions – the top position provides the lowest release force, while the position closest to the sleeve base provides the highest.
- Direct mainline installation – designed for naked helicopter and Chod rig setups without a separate leader.
- Long tapered sleeve base – helps the hooklink swivel pass smoothly over the sleeve.
- Tapered sleeve top – encourages the swivel to pass back over the sleeve.
- Tungsten-rubber beads – help the system sink slowly. Their soft construction and large bore allow them to pass over knots and potential obstructions.
- Compact protective buffer sleeves – cover the weight link or swivel while keeping the setup unobtrusive.
- Adjustable buffer sleeve length – external cutting guides allow the sleeves to be shortened to suit the rig setup.
- Translucent Dark Camo finish – helps conceal the terminal tackle on the lakebed.
- Convenient assembly – the heli sleeves are supplied on an ergonomic holder and wires for easier installation onto the mainline.
Bead Release and Installation
In the event of line breakage, the bead is designed to release from the sleeve, allowing the hooklink swivel to pass off the mainline so the fish can shed the trailing line.
Using the supplied holder, slide the naked heli sleeve onto the mainline. Moisten the line and position the sleeve, then thread on the tungsten bead. Moisten the sleeve and push the bead into the required release position. Next, thread on the chosen size 8 swivel.
If necessary, shorten the naked heli buffer sleeve using its external cutting guides. Thread it onto the mainline with the tapered end first, then attach the weight link or weight using a suitable knot. Slide the buffer sleeve down to cover the weight connection and attach the chosen hooklink.
